All of us attend conferences and workshops. Much as we would like to, we can’t always go to everything but we can share our some of the interesting things we learned. So if you have been to an event, why don’t you share your thoughts and experiences with the rest of the community? Either contact us via email firstname.lastname@example.org or Twitter @chat2lrn with a report or a link to your blog post so that we can include it. Its good to share!
Social Workplace Conference, London, 24 May 2012
The conference focussed on the impact of Social Media and Social Software on Internal Communications and Workforce Collaborations. The event was essentially aimed at those who were either using or want to use social media to improve communication and collaboration within their organisations. Although the event was certainly not about Learning and Development, those involved in trying to introduce social media to improve internal communications are facing very similar challenges to those in L&D who are trying to use technology to support learning. So if you are hitting barriers getting buy-in for using social media, it might be worth talking to those in your organisation who are reponsible for internal comms as you might find some useful allies!!
As you would expect from an event that was about SoMe, there was a great twitter back channel. The edited transcript of the twitter stream will give you a flavour of the topics covered during the day. If you click on link below you will be able to either open or save the transcript as an MSWord document.
